Carrum Health is a benefit that makes getting surgery easier and more affordable while providing access to high-quality care. With surgery through Carrum Health, you have a dedicated care specialist to hold your hand through the surgery process — from gathering medical records to coordinating your travel and care to letting you know the next steps. You’ll choose from top surgeons at qualified Centers of Excellence. When you book your surgery through Carrum, most expenses will be 100% covered after you meet your deductible.*

What surgeries are covered? Some surgeries may be inpatient or outpatient.

Total joint replacements (hip and knee)
Neck and back (spine)
Bariatric (weight loss)
Heart
Shoulder, elbow, wrist, hand, hip, knee, ankle, foot
Hysterectomies

Carrum Health also provides cancer support to help if you or a dependent is facing a cancer diagnosis.

Requirements to note

CareFirst-enrolled employees and dependents (18+) are required to contact Carrum Health and utilize their Centers of Excellence (COEs) for bariatric surgery, hip and knee replacements, and spinal fusions. This ensures access to the top 10% highest-quality healthcare providers at little to no cost (you pay up to your deductible, but $0 after).

ELIGIBILITY

The following groups are eligible to participate in the Carrum Health program:

All Regular, U.S. NesCARE benefits-eligible employees, eligible dependents; and COBRA participants (age 18+) and
Must be enrolled in a CareFirst Medical Plan

Please note:

You must be over the age of 18 on the day of surgery
Those over 65 must be covered by Nestlé’s CareFirst medical plan and have deferred Medicare coverage

What about terminations and COBRA status?
Your benefits end the same day your employment is terminated. New COBRA members must show verification of active COBRA status to use the Carrum benefit.

Know before you go: When you get surgery through Carrum, you’ll save money and know exactly how much you’ll pay, if anything, prior to surgery — no surprise bills.*

*Once deductibles have been met, copays and coinsurance are waived for all members unless you are enrolled in the SureSAVER plan. SureSAVER plan members must meet their deductible before coinsurance is waived ($1,650 for employee; $3,300 for family in 2025). SureSAVER deductible amounts have only been adjusted for the Carrum program for the amounts listed. Second opinions are provided at no cost to members and do not require payment of any deductible. Per IRS rules, a portion of any covered travel expenses will be reported as taxable income.
